Though, I did see they released a Blu-ray of "The Eagle Shooting Heroes" in South Korea and it appears to have an actually decent HD transfer.
So if they do have the original elements and are keeping them hidden, shame on them for not at least breaking them out for a good remaster! It is, but having watched that miserable Mei Ah DVD of the original version, it seems they did so because they were using really crummy elements, possibly upscaled video masters for some of it. When I watched it years ago, I assumed it was just DNR'd to death. I watched Ashes of Time Redux last night and it looks fairly terrible. Well, what would be the benefit of claiming it was lost when it wasn't? Other than to promote his new version that is. Which makes me even more suspicious that the (or "an") original ASHES is not really as "lost" as WKW would like us to believe.
